About the Department
The Department of Civil Engineering was established in 2010 with an intake of 60 students for the Undergraduate Programme (B.Tech.) in Civil Engineering. Since its inception, the department has been dedicated to delivering high-quality technical education, promoting innovative research, and developing competent civil engineers capable of addressing modern infrastructure challenges.
The department is equipped with well-established laboratories, a smart classroom, modern instruments, a well-stocked library, and a fully equipped computer laboratory with advanced engineering software such as AutoCAD, ARC-GIS, STAAD Pro, and ETABS, etc enabling students to gain strong practical and analytical skills required in the construction and infrastructure industry.
To enhance academic excellence and industry exposure, the department regularly organizes guest lectures, international conferences, seminars, webinars, industrial visits, survey camps, technical events, and workshops delivered by eminent academicians, industry professionals, and distinguished experts from the civil engineering domain. In addition, professional software training programs are conducted to strengthen students’ technical competence and employability.
The department is supported by a team of highly qualified and experienced faculty members from premier institutions. Faculty members are actively engaged in research and development activities, contributing significantly through numerous publications in reputed national and international journals.
To ensure continuous academic and professional development, faculty members regularly participate in Faculty Development Programs (FDPs), national and international conferences, workshops, and online MOOC courses, thereby maintaining high standards of teaching, research, and innovation.
In recognition of its commitment to academic excellence and quality technical education, the Civil Engineering Department has been accredited by the National Board of Accreditation (NBA) in 2022 and again in 2025.
Further strengthening its industry–academia collaboration, the department has established a Centre of Excellence with UltraTech Cement, one of the leading cement manufacturers in India. The collaboration focuses on skill development, industry-oriented training, research and development, and knowledge exchange in the field of construction materials and technologies. Through this initiative, the department organizes technical seminars, workshops, industrial visits, and training programs for students, contractors, builders, and construction professionals. The partnership also encourages collaborative research projects, consultancy services, and exposure to modern construction practices, including visits to cement plants, RMC plants, white topping sites, and major construction projects.
Expanding its societal and safety-oriented initiatives, the Department of Civil Engineering (NBA Accredited) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with TRAX S. Society on 12 June 2025 to establish a Centre of Road Safety Excellence. TRAX is a renowned National Road Safety NGO that has been working for more than 17 years using innovative and psychological approaches to road safety awareness and research. This collaboration aims to build technical capacity among students, promote research in road safety engineering, provide practical training, and foster academic–industry partnerships to develop safer and sustainable road infrastructure.
Through its strong academic foundation, research orientation, industry collaborations, and commitment to societal development, the Department of Civil Engineering continues to play a significant role in nurturing future engineers who contribute to sustainable infrastructure and safer communities.
