The Department of Computer Science, Dr. Akhilesh Das Gupta Institute of Professional Studies (ADGIPS), organized an Independence Day Celebration on 14th August 2026. The celebration was designed to encourage patriotism, creativity, cultural expression, and healthy participation among students. The department created a festive tricolour-themed environment and engaged students and faculty members through a range of creative and recreational activities.
The programme featured four activities: Traditional Dress Wear, Poster Making, Slogan Writing, and a Chess Competition.These activities provided students with opportunities to express their creativity,celebrate India’s cultural diversity, develop communication and artistic skills, and participate in a friendly intellectual competition.
INDEPENDENCE DAY CELEBRATION – 14th AUGUST 2026
TRADITIONAL DRESS WEAR
Students and faculty members participated in traditional and Indian attire, adding a cultural dimension to the Independence Day celebration. The activity encouraged students to showcase Indian traditions and celebrate cultural diversity with pride. A Traditional Dress Wear Activity was organized as a part of the event to celebrate the rich cultural heritage and diversity of India. Students participated enthusiastically by wearing traditional outfits representing different regions and cultures.
The activity provided students with an opportunity to showcase their cultural values, traditions, and individuality. The colourful and diverse traditional attire created a vibrant atmosphere and added a special cultural charm to the overall event .
POSTER MAKING
The poster-making activity provided students with a creative platform to express ideas related to Independence Day and national pride through visual design.Students used drawings, colours, and messages to communicate the spirit of the occasion. A Poster Making Competition was organized as part of the event to encourage students to showcase their creativity, imagination, and artistic skills. Students prepared attractive and meaningful posters based on themes related to patriotism, social awareness, cultural values, environmental protection, and national development.
The activity provided students with a platform to express their ideas through colours, designs, and creative illustrations. The enthusiastic participation of students made the competition engaging and contributed to the overall success of the event.
SLOGAN WRITING
The slogan-writing activity encouraged students to express patriotic thoughts in short, meaningful, and creative lines.It promoted originality, concise communication, and reflection on the values associated with India’s Independence.
As a part of the event, a Slogan Writing Competition was organized to encourage students to express their creativity, thoughts, and social awareness through impactful words. Students actively participated in the competition and presented meaningful and innovative slogans based on themes related to patriotism, unity, women empowerment, environmental awareness, and national development
The activity provided students with an opportunity to showcase their creative thinking and communication skills while conveying powerful messages in a short and effective manner. The competition witnessed enthusiastic participation and added a creative dimension to the overall event.
CHESS COMPETITION
A chess competition was conducted as part of the celebration to encourage strategic thinking, concentration,decision-making, and healthy competitive spirit among students. A Chess Competition was organized as part of the event to promote strategic thinking, concentration, and sportsmanship among students. Students participated enthusiastically and competed against each other with great focus and determination.
The competition provided students with an opportunity to enhance their problem-solving skills, decision-making abilities, patience, and logical thinking. The matches were conducted in a disciplined and competitive environment, making the activity an engaging part of the overall event.
CELEBRATION HIGHLIGHTS
The celebration brought together students and faculty members in a vibrant and patriotic atmosphere. The classroom and department spaces were decorated with Indian tricolour elements, flags, and handmade creative displays. The Independence Day Celebration held on 14th August 2026 successfully combined cultural expression, creative activities, and intellectual engagement.
