1. Introduction
In observance of Safer Internet Day 2026, as per the guidelines of the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), the Department of Artificial Intelligence & Data Science organized awareness sessions titled “Smart Tech, Safe Choices – Exploring the Safe and Responsible Use of AI” on 10th February 2026.
Safer Internet Day is celebrated globally on the second Tuesday of February to promote the safe, secure, and responsible use of digital technologies, especially among youth. The theme for 2026 emphasized responsible engagement with Artificial Intelligence and emerging technologies. The event aimed to sensitize students, faculty, and staff about online safety, cyber hygiene practices, cyber threats, digital ethics, and the responsible use of AI tools.
2. Objectives of the Awareness Session
The primary objectives of the program were:
- To create awareness about online safety and cybersecurity best practices.
- To educate participants about cyber hygiene and preventive measures against cyber threats.
- To promote ethical and responsible use of Artificial Intelligence technologies.
- To highlight the risks associated with misinformation, data privacy breaches, and AI misuse.
- To encourage critical thinking and informed digital decision-making.
- To motivate participants to enroll in cybersecurity awareness courses such as CyberShikshak and CyberYuva.
3. Overview of the Sessions
The awareness workshop was conducted through expert talks, presentations, and interactive discussions focusing on online safety, cyber hygiene, and responsible AI usage.
The sessions covered common cyber threats such as phishing, malware, identity theft, and misinformation, along with preventive measures including strong password practices, two-factor authentication, and safe browsing habits.
