As part of the Induction Programme 2025, the Centre of Legal Education, ADGIPS organized a Guest Lecture on the topic “Cybercrimes: Theories & Sociological Perspective” for newly admitted students. The session aimed to sensitize students about the increasing prevalence of cybercrimes and to provide an understanding of their theoretical and sociological dimensions.
The lecture was delivered by Dr. Rajnish Bishnoi, who provided valuable insights into the concept, evolution, and various forms of cybercrimes, including hacking, identity theft, cyber fraud, cyber-stalking, and online abuse. He also discussed key criminological theories such as Routine Activity Theory, Social Learning Theory, and Strain Theory, explaining their relevance in understanding cybercriminal behaviour.
The session highlighted the sociological factors contributing to cyber deviance, including anonymity in digital spaces, peer influence, and the growing dependence on technology. Dr. Bishnoi emphasized that cybercrime is not only a technological issue but also a social concern that requires awareness, ethical responsibility, and a multidisciplinary approach to address effectively.
The lecture was interactive and encouraged students to actively participate and reflect on contemporary digital challenges. Overall, the programme proved to be highly informative and helped students develop a broader understanding of cybercrimes, legal awareness, and the importance of responsible digital behaviour in today’s technology-driven society.
